I had been working in the insurance industry for the past 20 years out of which I spent 14 years in the agriculture and microinsurance space. My career objective is developing solutions that can help vulnerable communities manage their risk in better ways and Pula fits the bill to drive this forward! I am very passionate about Insurance and especially serving rural households. I had multiple encounters with insure-tech working on agriculture and microinsurance side and always admired the efforts they put in to solve the challenges around access to insurance.
Pula was an easy choice for me to join and work with like minded, brilliant people to move the needle forward on smallholder farmer innovations. My parents, grandparents and ancestors have always been small holder farmers. I believe farmers are the hardest workers in the world. However they are still the most vulnerable people in our society. Because of this, I’m committed to using my skills and talents to make their lives better by leveraging innovative and realistic technology.
Spending the majority of my career in the philanthropic sector I’d seen firsthand the challenges faced by smallholder farmers: the cycle of poverty both caused and exacerbated by factors largely outside of their control. Pula has a solution to this and a simple value proposition: to transfer the climate risks affecting food production away from the smallholder farmer and placing it with professional risk-takers, i.e., the insurance sector. We aim to achieve a fine balance where value is created for all stakeholders.
