Mavuno Data Protection Policy

1. Scope


1.1. This document sets out the scope, nature and purpose for the collection and processing of the data collected by Pula Advisors GmbH ("Pula") as part of its Mavuno application.
1.2. Pula ensures that all your data that is collected, processed, stored, analyzed and shared in compliance with all applicable data protection laws. Pula has implemented reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data collected by Pula against unauthorized or unlawful access, use or processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage.
1.3. These terms and conditions of service are subject to such additional terms or other contractual terms you may have entered into with Pula and any other applicable mandatory laws and regulations.
1.4. These terms and conditions of service may be updated from time to time.

2. Collection, processing and use of Data


2.1. The Digital Product registration process involves the collection and processing of your personal data including your phone number, Identification Card number, full name, approximate farm location, and gender.
2.2. The data collected by Pula shall be used for providing the Insurance Product to you, for digital marketing of relevant products to you, for research, analytics to third party companies as well as for credit scoring to financial institutions.

3. Sharing of your personal data

3.1. We may share your data with third parties within or outside Kenya for purposes of research, analytics and to financial institutions for credit scoring. We require these third parties will provide the same level of protection to your personal data as is provided in these terms and conditions.
3.2. Your personal data may be processed both in and outside Kenya by Pula and/or the third parties mentioned above. This will be done in accordance and subject to the applicable contractual restrictions regarding confidentiality and data protection and the applicable data protection laws and regulations. We will not disclose your personal data to parties who are not authorized to process it.

4. Retention of data

4.1. Pula will not retain your personal data for any longer periods than is necessary. How long your personal data will be retained will depend on the purposes for which your personal data is processed and the applicable statutory retention periods.

5. Your rights in respect of your personal data

Where permitted by applicable law, you have a right to:

  • access your data which is held by us

  • update and correct such personal data if it is accurate

  • withdraw your consent for the processing of your personal data at any time by calling our call Centre or sending us a message via SMS or WhatsApp

  • delete your personal data if it is no longer required for the purposes for which it is held

  • obtain your personal data in an electronic format

  • restrict or object to the processing of your data
